Friday Update

  • The children are bringing home their literature response journals to share with you over the weekend.  Talk with your child about the literature circle work they have done.  Please help your child remember to bring it back to school on Monday.

  • In Math, we have continued to work on the concept of multiplication.  We have spent a lot of time on factors and multiples, and have given classroom presentations about how finding the factors of a factor can help you find the factors of a multiple of the same number.  You can ask your child about the numbers they presented, and to explain their reasoning to you ~ they can do so with arrays, a 300 chart or tiles.  We had a multiplication math workshop to work on our individual multiplication goals.  Some of these games can be played at home.  Your child can teach you the game we play with a deck of playing cards and the game we play with dice.

  • We started our narrative stories this week.  Some of the children chose to write with a partner, and some chose to work alone.  They used a graphic organizer to structure and plan their stories.  Before writing a first draft, the children made mind maps to describe the main characters and settings of their stories.  Next week, we will continue working on our stories.
  • Svea and Alan were elected to represent our class on the student council.  Sebastian is our alternate.
  • The Walkathon is on Tuesday the 21st.  The children should wear comfortable walking shoes and appropriate clothing on that day.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!
