Dear Parents,
In our last unit in the Beginners class we learned about our homes.
The following activities helped develop our vocabulary in German
and gave us more confidence in listening, speaking, reading and writing:
- Designing and decorating a living room
- Making a collage of different types of furniture
- Reading about different homes and apartments
- Informing ourselves about a SOS Kinderdorf in Österreich
- Playing partner games with pictures of household items and furniture
- Sharing about our own homes
- Reading simple books of our choice
- Completing the unit writing assessment
We have also started using Storybird.com, a story writing program.
The children choose the illustrations and write their own text in German.
We began by writing stories with a partner, but now some children are being
risk-takers and writing on their own. We will be publishing our books
soon which will allow others to read our books!
