In 4.3, we had a contest to publish a news article on our blog. Everyone went through the writing process to complete a news report (planning with a graphic organizer, drafting, revising, drafting, revising again, drafting again [if necessary], and publishing). Six students chose to submit their final drafts and enter our class contest. Everyone in the class used a writing checklist to evaluate and compare the 6 entries, and everyone in the class voted on the article of their choice. The result of our vote was a tie. Congratulations, Matthew and Alastair on being our first blog reporters!

Amazing News Reporter Visits Our School
By Matthew
Yesterday, 19th of May, 2011 at Isabel L. went to our school in K., Germany to talk about her job as a news anchor for N-TV and RTL to the 4th graders. She went because her job connected to the 4th graders’ unit of inquiry. Mrs. L. showed a video clip of herself in the studio and talked about what is hard, like waking up early and not being able to see her family very much. She also told them how she keeps food and drink under the desk and has a snack whenever there are pictures showing. Mrs L. told 4th Grade how important teamwork is for news. The fourth graders asked her questions and she answered them thoroughly. The fourth graders said she was the best guest speaker ever.
News Anchor Visits our School Grade 4 for Job Interview
By Alastair
On the 19th of May 2011 Isabel L. (Maxim’s Mum) came in to share about her job. She is a Journalist and a News Reporter for N-TV and RTL. She shared with 4th grade because she is a News Reporter on TV which relates to 4th grade’s unit because it involves teamwork. 4th grade’s unit is about teamwork. The interview took place in D., Kaiserwerth at our school in Mrs Copeland’s room (4.1). Isabel said that sometimes she has to get up at ! This is what it would be like for her: : get up : check for news on the computer : go to work : meeting : Make up : Go on TV : Go off TV : meeting : Go home and have a cup of tea! Isabel only stays in Germany so she can see her family.
I really enjoyed doing this and the guest speaker was very helpful i learned alot from her!
